Coconut oil and Chocolate Carb Control Drink [Forum: General]
Sun, 19 Feb 2012 19:01:00 EST
I am 80 years old and working to lose 70 pounds. I have lost 15 pounds in the last month by being on a very strict low carb diet. I decided to add coconut oil to my diet but was not sure how I was going to do it because I do not eat bread or other cereals right now. This morning, instead of drinking it cold, I decided to warm my low carb chocolate protein drink add the coconut oil to that. It was very good, however I only added a teaspoon full. I will continue to increase the amount of oil until I can determine how much is too much.

Annother Newbie.. [Forum: General]

In 2006 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, in view of the recent developments in Alzheimer's response to VCO and the similar brain chemistry failure of Parkinson’s it's a logical conclusion to try.

I just have to see if there is any stabilization of my condition, I will keep you posted on my progress and am open to suggestions, Thanks.

I've been reading so many of your stories and posts, I feel that after all the websites I have visited THIS is finally where I'm going to find all the answers I need. I'm 36 and my Dr thinks I'm crazy. Yes, I'm crazy. My hair is thinning (not noticable), along with my eyelashes (VERY noticable), I have several S&S of a very confused throid and as I said before Doc just thinks I'm crazy, that its all in my head. This hurts my heart bc I know I'm not (crazy). I want to try this EVCO. How do you use it? it would be an added benefit to help with my skin but, I am more concerned about my eyelashes. Its taken my self esteem....

I did buy a Needak Rebounder in 2004, being lazy I have not used it much, but love that it folds up, and I keep dragging it out every so often, its quality and not like the old ones I had in the 80s, this has a great quality to it.. thats was the day I had money, couldnt EVER afford it today.. if you can afford it.. get it! worth it for life!

I just started taking coconut oil this morning because of hearing its possible benefit for helping to prevent or delay Alzheimers which runs in my family. I added about 2 tsp to hot chocolate and it was just fine. I will slowly increase the daily amount over time to 3 Tablespoons. Weight loss is not an issue but I sure hope I won't gain weight. The 14 fat grams per Tablespoon concern me :(
My sister is trying this with her son who has epilepsy and we are hoping he benefits as well.

Re: Coconut Oil Softgels? [Forum: Weight Loss]
Thu, 16 Feb 2012 12:19:00 EST
Coconut oil softgels are a big time rip off. The largest softgel one can make is 1000 mg (1 gram). As most people know, the recommended amount of coconut oil to eat each day by many researchers is about 3.5 tablespoons. 1 tablespoon is 14 grams. So to get the equivalent amount of coconut oil that most people are consuming in capsule form, one would need to take about 49 capsules a day. The companies peddling these coconut pills are recommending anywhere from 3 to 6 capsules a day, which is only a few s of coconut oil. So if you want coconut oil in pill form, you are going to pay 20 or 30 dollars for a jar of 100 or so pills, and what value are those pills? If you do the math, you will see that you are being ripped off big time.

Not only that, if you were to consume large amounts of soft gel capsules, what else are you consuming besides the oil inside them? These large gelatin capsules are made from bovine (cows), and we don't see anyone advertising organic grass-fed derived gelatin capsules. (If they are 'vegetarian' capsules, then they are soy-based.) So any toxins currently existing in our cattle industry (growth hormones, antibiotics, etc.) will also be in these gelatin capsules. Also, in the encapsulation process it is standard practice to use mineral oil. Mineral oil is basically petroleum.

Stick with the oil!!

Continue trying to reduce the dosage. If you cannot tolerate straight coconut oil, try desiccated coconut or coconut cream concentrate that still has all the fiber and protein. It might be easier to tolerate.

Randy,

Your doctor is not likely to have researched this topic himself, and is just repeated old dogma (lipid theory of heart disease) which is continually being challenged by the science, and will soon be outdated. Read the research for yourself here: http://www.coconutoil.com/peer_reviewed.htm

WHO'S RIGHT??? [Forum: General]

My Doctor says that coconut oil is the worst possible oil I can eat -
I have had open hear surgery, and now have developed type 2 diabetes because of it. I would like to not have to take Metformin for life. ' How can I be convinced,' after all we are talking long term here, not just a couple of weeks for things to change. All scientific opinions appreciated, not just opinions.
Thanks randy

Hi there - What have you found out so far. We also adopted a dog with heartworms. We have used the heartworm protocol from Wolf Creek Ranch so far, and I want to do a few more protocols before retesting. The VCO would be a welcome addition to his food plan, no matter what.

Re: Coconut Oil in Smoothies [Forum: Recipes]

Hi Cathie,

I am a late subscriber to this forum and came across your query. If you are still searching for an answer, perhaps mine would assist. You see, coconut oil solidifies in cold temperatures (test by storing your jar of oil in a cold place, eg air conditioned room, fridge, etc) so when this is mixed in ice-cold smoothies, the oil would solidify into little lumpy lets. If you drink coffee, try mixing a spoonful of coconut oil the next time you have that cuppa..it gives a wonderful aroma..!!

Have a question about using coconut oil in smoothhies. When I use liquified coconut oil in a smoothie in which I use ice or frozen fruit it always make the coconut oil turn solid and makes lumps in the smoothie. Anyone else have a problem using coconut oil in cold drinks? I adore coconut oil but I also love my smoothies ice cold. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Cathie
