coconut oil diet [Forum: Weight Loss]

I have tried to take it by the tablespoon, but can not stand the taste. Can I take it with something to make it more bearable?

How do you take it? Like just on a spoon or mix it in something? I tried years ago to mix it in hot water and it made my stomach cramp. I had to quit using it. I would like to try it again to see if it will help my hypothyroidism and help me lose 20 to 30 pounds.

noninflamatory diet and more! [Forum: Skin Health]
Sun, 15 Jan 2012 09:19:00 EST
I would like information on a noninflamatory diet. Also, ideas on how to make smoothies using coconut oil. My husband does not like the flavor of coconut at all and so I would like some ideas on how to add it to his diet. He has chronic back pain. And from those drugs, memory loss, depression, etc. Thanks so much! I am very exited to get going with this in our home!

The easiest way to eat vco is half a slice of bread, spread vco on it then fold over and eat as normal, goes down easily.

VCO mini smoothie [Forum: Recipes]
Fri, 13 Jan 2012 14:52:00 EST
3-4 oz V8 peach mango juice (60 cal; vit a, c & e)
1/8 c nonfat dry milk (40 cal; 4g protein, 10-15% rda calcium, vit d, b1, b2, b12 and phosphorus)
3 T Unrefined VCO (120 cal/T)

Put all ingredients in blender on 'shake/smoothie' setting. Delicious and approx 460 cal at an approx cost of $1.75. Would need more protein to be a satisfying snack or meal replacement.

The first thing I want to tell you is if you stay with the coconut oil and I highly recommend you do, then you will get worse before you get better. This is because you will go through a detox. The coconut oil gets right in there and starts removing toxins immediately and you feel like you are craving it because your body needs it to heal. What you have is what I had many years before and it's called demodex mites. The only way I got rid of mine was with coconut oil. I was using the oil as a moisterizer and it is the only thing I put on my face. Even if you use a moisterizer with coconut oil in it your are still putting toxins on your face from the other ingredients so please just use the oil alone. There is absolutely no need to use anything else. You will be so happy with this in itself as it is anti-inflammatory and will reduce fine lines and wrinkles over time. I also experienced this first hand. I am 48 now and look 38 if not younger. I used to have deep laugh lines until I changed my diet and added coconut oil to it. I replaced all my other fats with coconut oil although I do take an omega 3 fish oil called ascenta nutra sea fish oil. Other than that I only use coconut oil for my baking, cooking and as my butter. It tastes so much better and is health promoting and reduced inflamation in my body so obviously that I got hooked. I used to never tan as I had awful, white, white, white skin until I changed my diet to alkalize my body and added coconut oil as a tanning lotion all over my face and body. Now I never burn and have a healthy brownish glow (for me). I'm much happier, way more balanced as coconut oil balances all your systems especially the thyroid, heart, digestive, well all of them. It transforms your life and brings you into balance so you can live your life to the fullest with an amazing energy and zest for life. Your brain needs this oil as well because it is made of fat and there are so many frankinfats that people ingest all the time that this is why there is so much rage in the world. Your brain needs coconut oil and omega 3, but a high quality omega 3. If you don't want to take the fist oil I recommend and it's easy believe me. Then eat walnuts everyday. They are also rich in omega 3 and are so delicious. Eat one good handful a day and your good to go, but take out all other fats from yoru diet other than the coconut oil. You will be doing your body a lot of good and feel so much better, healhier, happier and stronger for it. I have been using coconut oil for only 2.5 years, but I have transformed in this time and will never go back.

Good luck,
Ellen

p.s. if you want information on a noninflamatory diet, then please respond to this and I will tell you exactly what you need to know to greatly improve your health. It tastes amazing and makes you feel equally as amazing.

Re: Refined Coconut Oil- a question [Forum: General]

Hi Ivonne,

When purchasing coconut oil, one must determine between “virgin” and “refined.” The determining characteristic of virgin coconut oils is that they are made from fresh coconuts, and they have the distinct aroma and taste of coconuts present. Tasteless coconut oils are probably made from copra, not fresh coconuts. There are also some oils that are made from copra that are not fully deodorized and have a taste to them. But these oils are refined also, despite marketing claims. You will be able to taste the difference when comparing with a Virgin Coconut Oil. There are many ways of refining coconut oil made from copra, some more beneficial than others. But virgin coconut oils start out with fresh coconuts, and do not need further refining as their natural antioxidant properties make them very stable oils.

I personally recommend a traditional handmade virgin coconut oil.

Mary Enig reported in her article that the effects of coconut oil on persons with low cholesterol levels was the opposite of persons with high cholesterol levels. Of persons with low total cholesterol counts, she wrote that 'there may be a rising of serum cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and especially HDL cholesterol.' In persons with high cholesterol levels, 'there is lowering of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.' The studies she cited showed that in both groups the LDL/HDL ratio moved in a favorable direction. In persons with AIDS or immune-compromised from other causes, the conclusions of this research are profound. It means everything the public has been told about vegetable oils on television for the past 15 years has been half truths and leading the public to the wrong conclusions. The public has been led to believe that tropicals will clog your arteries and cause heart disease. In fact, the opposite is true; natural tropical oils will help prevent hardening of the arteries while most liquid vegetable oils will increase hardening of the arteries! Hope these information helps.

I bought refined coconut oil thinking it was the same thing than Pure Coconut Oil. I would like to know if the benefits of the refined Coconut Oil are the same for the cholesterol levels.

I have been using it in my food, about two teaspoonfuls (I heat it and when liquid pour it over the food).

I live in Miami and I don't have a clue where to find the Pure Coconut Oil. If anyone has an idea I would also like to know.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Glenda,
I'm posting some testimonials from Coconut Diet Forum.
Hopefully, it will give an idea on how to start.

Marianita

'Over the past 18 months I’ve lost 107 pounds, going from 316 to 209 and from 52 to 36 pants (19 pounds to go). I lost the weight following a low carb, no sugar or grain, high saturated fat and high protein diet and eliminating ALL soy products and ALL polyunsatured vegetable oils. I used about 2 or 3T of Virgin Coconut Oil daily. Chuck (Coconut Diet Forums)

'Last year I was measured at 10.5% body fat. Last month, I hiked up my consumption [of Virgin Coconut Oil] from 4 tbsp /day to 6 tbsp/day. At the same time, I limited my carb intake at dinnertime. In a few weeks time, my bodyweight increased by about 4lbs. but body fat decreased to 9.6% – I did not change my workout intensity or frequency. My trainer is wondering what the heck am I taking (chest and thigh measurements increased). It blows ‘em away when I say that I take Virgin Coconut Oil straight up. MG'

'It’s VCO and low carbs. I feel better than I have in a long time, my temp is actually over 98 (not all the time, but it’s better than those 94.5 readings). I’m a believer and hope to stick with it! I haven’t seen a big weight loss, but my clothes fit better and I know adding an exercise program will impact the weight. Val' – (Coconut Diet Forums)

Thank you both so much for the comments, I am going to try it after food and see if the dry mouth persists.

Hi! I've been taking VCO for several months now and I have had lot of experience with it I think. I take 3-4 tablespoons a day and have found it easiest to take after meals and with plenty of fluids. The liver needs liquids to convert the coconut oil. I have experienced extreme nausea upon taking it on an empty stomach and have found that those symptoms subside almost immediately upon hydration with simple water and some food. If you are not hydrated sufficiently the liver will take the liquid it needs from other parts of the body and create dehydration symptoms like you described. My suggestion to anyone eating coconut oil is to ensure the hydration of your body so that it can utilize all the wonderfulness of coconut oil! Coconut water is great too!

Hello, I am new to using coconut oil and are building up the level of coconut oil slowly, and currently eating a teaspoon morning and night. Just wondering, I have a dry mouth, thirst, and my throat feels really tight and constricted. Wondering if anyone knows if that is a side effect of taking the VCO, and will it settle down?
Many thanks for any help.

Capylic acid is derived from coconut oil so that would make sense. It's cheaper to buy the coconut oil since the cost of extraction will only increase the cost. Plus you'll get all the other health benefits of a non-stripped down health product which is organic and un fettered.

IN REFERENCE TO 'DIE-OFF SYMPTOMS', I once took caprylic acid to kill off candida yeasts and what I experienced after 3 days of taking the capsules was:
nausea, bad taste in the mouth, feeling as if I had eaten an overload of candies in the stomach, upset stomach.

Curiously, after taking the VCO for a few days I also experienced like symptoms so I assumed the VCO was in the process of killing of the candida yeasts. I also suggest a colon cleanse to get rid of the die off toxins but perhaps VCO will do the trick also. Well wishes to you. Great and informative forum.

Hi Tammy,
Thank you for sharing your experience with coconut oil for massages. It is also a good carrier for essential oils.

I love to use it for massages. It a perfect choice. It slow to absorb so it lasts and then when it does absorb leaves skin so soft.
